Web directors are often described as ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and there is no job in IT more varied than that of a web director. It is important that you have the skills to do a variety of tasks. If you don’t have the skills, you’ll just be a bridge.
For example, if you don’t know how servers and websites work, you won’t be able to talk to engineers. If you don’t know much about design, you won’t be able to work with designers. If you don’t know how to read numbers, you’ll be left to the marketers. If you don’t know the latest technology, you can’t make recommendations to clients or sales.

例えば、サーバーやWebサイトの仕組みがわからないとエンジニアと会話ができません。デザインの知見が少なければデザイナーと協力することができません。数値が読めなければ、マーケターにお任せしてしまうことになります。最新の技術を学ばなければ、クライアントや営業に提案できません。PMとのコミュニケーションも同様です。
